WHAt WE BELIEVE
Secondary Title
Transfiguration Baptist Church is a fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we desire to be equipped to fully know and be completely conformed into the image of Christ.
We Believe God to be the only living and true God. God is the infinite, intelligent Spirit, who is the maker and supreme ruler of heaven and earth. God is glorious and worthy of our highest honor, praise, and love. God is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, and omnificent, and exercises these qualities with righteousness, justice, and love. God is the Father of all creation and the First of the Trinitarian Godhead, which includes God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe Jesus Christ to be the Only Begotten Son of God the Father. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh, who was sent from heaven to die for our sins on the cross. He is the Savior of the whole world and the Redeemer of all sins. Jesus Christ is divine and human, perfect and distinct. He is the Second of the Trinitarian Godhead, equally divine with the Father and the Holy Spirit. He is worthy of all honor and worship and is the head of the Church.
We believe the Holy Spirit to be the Third of the Trinitarian Godhead equally divine with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter in place of Christ, the administrator of Jesus Christ’s church on earth, our intercessor for prayer, and the reprover of sin, righteousness, and judgment in the world. The Holy Spirit has guided the Church from its beginnings and instructed the prophets and teachers of the Bible. The Holy Spirit works to inspire believers toward Christian growth, which begins with the new birth.
We believe the Holy Bible to be the supernaturally inspired and infallible Word of God written by men. The Bible is God’s truth without any mixture of error; and therefore is, and shall always remain as such to the end of the age. The Bible is the standard by which all human conduct and creeds should be tried. It is essential for every church and Christian believer and must be studied throughout life. The Bible includes all areas of life: marriage, parenting, work, entertainment, prayer, speech, celebration, death, grief, heaven and hell, and possess the history of Jesus Christ through the Gospels.
We believe the Trinity to be the perfect combination of the Godhead in One God. God exists eternally in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The three of the Trinity maintain one substance and are equal in power and glory, possessing the same nature, essence, and being, executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.
We believe that Salvation is granted through God’s sovereign grace. The blessings of salvation are made free to all by the gospel; that it is the immediate duty of all to accept them by a cordial, penitent, and obedient faith; and that nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on earth but his own inherent depravity and voluntary rejection of the gospel; which rejection involves him in an aggravated condemnation.
We believe financial Stewardship is God’s plan for building the Church. Stewardship includes tithes and other offerings. Christians are commanded to give “upon the first day of the week” to assure the possibility of the Church to continue the practice of evangelism. Stewardship is a three-fold practice involving money, time, and service in ministry.
